WIDER-SCIS-ISID Policy Dialogue on Green Industrialization in a Shifting Global Order

| The policy dialogue was hosted by the Southern Centre for Inequality Studies (SCIS) at the Wits University in Johannesburg in conjunction with the South African G20 Presidency on September 25, 2025. It covered a presentation on Green economic transformation and sustainable convergence by Nagesh Kumar, Director, Institute for Studies in Industrial Development (online), followed by a Keynote Address on Decarbonization and Chinese green industrial policy by Alicia Garcia Herrero, Chief Economist for Asia-Pacific, Natixis. This was followed by a Panel discussion on Policy choices for leveraging the transition moderated by Imraan Valodia, Director, Southern Centre for Inequality Studies at University of Witwatersrand. The panelists included Kunal Sen, Director at UNU-WIDER, José Antônio Puppim de Oliveira, Sao Paulo School of Business Administration, Fiona Tregenna, University of Johannesburg and Dorah Modise, Executive Director of the Presidential Climate Commission, South Africa. |
