A sponsored Short-term Empirical Research Project (Collaborative), Indian Council of Social Science Research, New Delhi

The study analyses the impact of various schemes under the Make in India (MII) programme and Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative on these sectors. Among the six manufacturing sectors covered in this study, the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme was the focus of the analysis in those sectors which are covered by this scheme. Accordingly, in Pharmaceuticals, High efficiency Solar PV Modules, and Steel, the PLI scheme is the focus of the study. For the Textiles & Garments sector, the PLI as well as other MII Initiatives like the Start-Up India Seed Fund Scheme and the ‘Textile Parcel’ Freight Train Initiative have been also looked at.

The Toys sectoral study focused on the National Action Plan for Indian Toys 2020. The Fertilizers sectoral study covers the initiatives aimed at reducing import dependence and promoting clean and alternative fertilizers. This Short-term Empirical Research Project (Collaborative) “Make in India: An Assessment of the Impact of the Programme on six Manufacturing Sectors” sponsored by ICSSR. The team comprised six ISID faculty members viz. Dr Reji K Joseph (coordinator), Dr Anjali Tandon, Dr Beena Saraswathy, Dr Ramaa Arun Kumar, Dr Sangeeta Ghosh, and Dr K Seenaiah.
