Library Users, Facilities & Guidelines

A number of research scholars, activists, students, media persons, faculty members of colleges, universities and others research institutions use the ISID library resources directly and indirectly through the Institute’s website.


  • Outsiders are eligible to access the library for reference purposes on production of identity card/introduction letter from their respective Colleges, Universities and Institutes.
  • All Institute staff members are entitled to borrow books, journals etc. from the library collection for a specific period as per rules.
  • All the users can avail limited number of photocopy and printing facilities on nominal charges.
  • The Library collection, online databases etc. can be accessed through computer workstation provided in the library. All computer terminals are connected with internet for searching & browsing.


While entering the library, a person should leave their personal belongings, such as bags, brief-case, individual books etc. at counter of the library at their risk; A person desirous of using the library has to enter his/her name time (in and out) and put his/her signature in the register kept for the purpose at the entrance of the library; The users for the library are requested to take care of their belongings (laptops, devices and other things) inside the library premise; The Library follows an open access system. Books or other materials taken from the stacks should not be re-shelved by the readers but should be left on the tables; Eating, drinking and smoking strictly prohibited inside the library; Mobile phones must be set to vibrate or silent ring mode while in the Library, and are not permitted to be used inside the library.


Participation in Library Networks & Digital Document Library:


The Library is an active member of DELNET and has been making considerable use of the network’s facilities for inter-library loan, acquiring references, document delivery services and ascertaining the availability of documents. As part of this network, the library makes its resources available to other participating network members.


The Digital Documentation section of the Library plays a complementary role by acquiring and storing important documents/reports in electronic form for easy reference and sharing. Presently, a collection of about 650 documents is accessible within campus network.
