The Institute for Studies in Industrial Development (ISID), New Delhi is organizing a Two-Week Capacity Building Programme for faculty, teachers and post-doctoral researchers from universities, colleges and academic institutions belonging to Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs) during the period March 5 to 17, 2018. The programme is sponsored by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), New Delhi.
The programme aims to develop research capabilities of the faculty from Social Sciences belonging to the aforementioned social groups. The broad objectives of the programme are to develop and enhance:
- capacity for conceptualization and writing of research proposals, project reports and journals articles, etc;
- skills to enable researchers in preparation of an appropriate research design, which include review of literature, formulation of research questions and hypotheses, collection of information, analysis of qualitative and quantitative data, and basic statistical techniques with relevant software packages like SPSS and Stata;
- capacity of researchers for planning and writing a book and research paper for publication; and
- capacities of participating young faculty by exposing them to contemporary ‘developmental issues’ by eminent scholars and academicians’.
The programme is designed with an inter-disciplinary approach. It will consist of lectures by eminent academicians, group discussions besides hands-on experience with datasets using various techniques.
Interested faculty members and teachers from colleges, universities and research institutes belonging to the SC/ST social groups may send their applications in the prescribed format (downloadable from ISID website) and send it along with, a write-up of about 400 words on their research and publication plan after the workshop, 200 word write-up on how the workshop will be helpful for teaching/research and a letter from the Department/College/Institution along with CV to the Programme Co-ordinator through e-mail to email@example.com on or before January 29, 2018. Selection of participants will be done on All India basis as per the ICSSR guidelines.
Outstation Participants will be provided accommodation in the Institute’s Hostel-cum-Guest House on twin-share basis. To and fro AC 3-tier train fare by the shortest route will be reimbursed to the candidates from place of study/work. Selected candidates will be intimated by February 5, 2018.
